What is Figma Sites?
Monday, December 29, 2025
I’ve been using Figma’s Figma Sites product for about two weeks now. I think it’s time to share my initial impressions.
First of all, what is Figma Sites?
For those familiar with Framer, I’ll keep it short: it’s a direct competitor to Framer. It’s essentially a move by Figma to keep its users from switching platforms. I hope it succeeds—we’re honestly tired of constantly learning and changing tools.
For those who don’t know Framer and are still asking “What is this tool?”:
Figma Sites is Figma’s way of saying, “Don’t stop at design. If you’ve created a simple website (without heavy dynamic features), come—let’s turn this into code together.”
Based on my initial impressions, I can talk about its pros and cons.
The disadvantages I’ll mention do not mean this product is unusable. It will evolve; it simply needs time. This is just a heads-up for those who want to start using it early.
Advantages
No learning curve. If you’re familiar with Figma, it’s very easy to pick up.
Full access to Figma libraries.
Ready to release: You can design directly inside the tool without needing separate design documentation.
Locked pages can be created.
Analytics tools like Google Analytics can be connected.
External meta tags can be added via head and style. This allows installing feedback tools such as UserGuiding or Hotjar.
CMS-generated content can be displayed in a specific section of a page, or the entire page can be powered by the CMS.
Disadvantages
The CMS is very basic. It doesn’t support advanced Markdown features (for example, you can’t create tables).
No site search. There’s no way to search content created in the CMS.
System pages such as 404 pages cannot be customized.
Password-protected pages are not customizable.
No i18n support: If you already have language collections in Figma, you can use them, but there is no live language-switching functionality.
Multi-select behavior is critical. If it’s not enabled, changes made on desktop don’t apply to other viewports—this breaks Framer habits.
If you found this useful, please mention it in the comments so the algorithm can surface it to more people.
Best regards
